Join me in changing a child's life - become a child sponsor!
As a sponsor of a World Vision child and a Compassion child, I realize that "little is much when God is in it," and that many small gifts together can be used by God to bless the lives of individual children. I am learning that the writing of personal letters to these children, something I am not very good at, really isn't that hard, and God can use these small personal touches from a sponsor.
But around the world, millions of children are still suffering. You are probably already familiar with World Vison's help to children and families in poor nations like Haiti; however, a horrible situation has recently come to my attention: the world-wide problem of children being sold into slavery by their parents.
Why would a parent ever do such a thing? you might ask. Primarily it is because the parents are lied to, and told about wonderful opportunities that will come to their child if they will sell him or her. The result: for a few dollars given to a family in desperate need, the child is taken and subjected to servitude, and girls often to prostitution. How low can human beings go when they do not know the love of Christ? I don't know, but somehow this seems almost as low as you can get.

World Vision ministers to girls rescued from the sex trade, giving them shelter, and assistance such as eduction, job placement, and counseling. Another aspect of this ministry is helping families have the means to survive without selling their children.
Action: first of all, PRAYER. A holy and loving God is grieved and his loving heart is torn at what is done to these children. We can cry out to Him to arise and act, realizing that He wants to use US! Then, put hands and feet to our prayers: spread the word to those who can help, give, go, whatever it takes.
That's why I've joined the Connect Your World campaign - to connect caring people in my world with children in need. Most of us are blessed with an abundance, and I believe God calls us to share out our abundance with those in need.
