Tips for promoting your Connect Your World Campaign website

Thank you for setting up your Connect Your World page! You've taken the first step towards helping the world's poorest children, now we want to give you some tools to help you share the joy of sponsorship and reach your sponsorship goal.

1. Send personalized email messages to your friends and family. We've provided you with email templates to give you ideas on how to encourage your friends and family to sponsor a child through your site, but a personalized message from you means so much more. Identify groups of 5-10 people in your address book who have something in common (i.e. family, work friends, church members, civic group embers, etc.), then tailor your email message to match the group. This means that the message you send to your family would be different from the message you'd send to people who belong to your church.

2. Send follow-up emails if people haven't opened your email or clicked on your link (check this by viewing My Reports under My HQ). In our busy world, people have the best intentions, but sometimes they forget and all they need is a gentle reminder.

3. Promote your website's URL offline. In addition to sending out emails, consider asking people you meet for their email address so you can share your website with them. Also, create "business cards" for with your site's web address and hand them out whenever you can. Here are some ideas:

  • Promote your site and its web address in your church's newsletter
  • Inlcude a short message about the Connect Your World Campaign and your site's web address in your holiday cards
  • Post a message about your site at your community center
  • Make an announcement about your website at your next PTA or community service meeting
  • Place your url on your email sign off/signature
